Edgar Allan Poe

Today only on “Apps Gone Free” you can download an Edgar Allan Poe collection of stories for the iPad. It has amazing and creepy illustrations to support the text and can be read in English, Spanish or French. The collection includes The Oval Portrait, The Tell-Tale Heart, Annabel Lee, The Masque of Red Death and a Biography of Edgar Allan Poe. This may be TOO creepy for your students, so be sure to read it yourself prior to reading to your students. You knew that though didn’t you.

The Raven isn’t included. It is in a different collection for $3.99. However over at www.byrdseed.com there are some free recordings of the Raven and some ideas that can be used for the Raven as well as others to teach rhythm and rhyme. One of the audio recordings listed here is by James Earl Jones and also Christopher Walken! Ideas for Raven by Byrdseed: http://www.byrdseed.com/poes-the-raven/

As I said, this may too creepy for intermediate students, but there may be some useful ideas between these two resources.

Exporting Movie from iMovie | Uploading to DropItTo.Me

5th Grade students are working on creating multimedia presentations of their studies of the American Revolutionary War. Here is a quick tutorial on how to first export the work from iMovie to the desktop as a video file and then to upload it to dropitto.me/earthtreec in order to share it with me.

First, in iMovie click on “Share” and then “Export Movie.”

Once all of the videos are uploaded, I’ll burn them to a DVD for each class.

Today I’ll be interviewing for the TIS Technology Coach position.  Below is a rough draft of a menu of support for TIS teachers. Obviously, it’s sampled after a sushi menu. 🙂

Wish me luck!

How to Get Started with Blogger

Blogger is a simple to use blog site.

The focus is on producing content, not on the creation and customization of the site itself. So, it makes for an ideal place for students to create a portfolio or even to just share information on a certain topic they are studying.

The video below shows you how to get started using blogger.com so that students can sign in to it using their Telluride School District Googles Apps account.

You can pop the video out to a full size view by clicking on the rectangle in the lower right side of the video after it starts to play.
