Activstudio Level 1 Foundation Skills

Teachers,

Here is an opportunity to develop your skills in using Activstudio. level1.gifThis course “Activstudio Level 1 Foundation Skills” will take place in June and will primarily be online (see attachment). So you will need access to the Internet. If you know of anyone who may be interested in this class, please forward this email to them, especially if they will have access to a board next year but have not been trained. To earn the credit, just attend to meetings, build an interactive flipchart and do the free online course. www.prometheanlearning.com

This course will introduce the main features of the Activstudio version 3 software. level1.gifBy following this course, participants will have developed the key skills required to use the software effectively. If you’ve already taken the coarse and have received the certificate, be sure to attend the an initial meeting, final meeting and turn in a project to receive credit! 🙂

This is a professional development .5 credit class.

1. Attend one (1) initial meeting (45 minutes)@ ESC 1, Suite 113 Lab2: Monday June 2nd 10:00-10:45 OR Tuesday June 3rd 3:00-3:45
2. Complete the Activstudio Level 1 course (ONLINE 6 hours)
3. Create a flipchart to share at final meeting
4. Attend one (1) final meeting (45 minutes)@ ESC 1, Suite 113 Lab2: Monday June 16th 10:00-10:45 OR Tuesday June 17th 3:00-3:45

ActivStudio Edition for Students is out!

The student edition can be installed on any student computer (even at home) and allow students to use flipcharts, save them, and print them!!!! (The flipchart viewer won’t let you save or print.)

Young Scientist Challenge

Here’s some news that Ivan passed our way this morning regarding a DEN challenge. If you teach 5th – 8th grade, check it out.

We are excited to announce the Discovery Education Young Scientist Challenge in partnership with 3M. This is a wonderful opportunity for teachers and students to participate, and of course I’d love to see some winners from the best region, the west! 🙂 Feel free to pass this information on to any of your districts, schools, teachers, etc. who might be interested!
Students in grades 5-8 can create their own 60-120 second videos using digital cameras, cell phones, and/or webcams. Semi-finalist student winners get a $250…. Finalists win an all expense trip to Washington DC for the finalist and a PARENT (do you have your own child in grades 5-8?) among other items… the 1st place winner receives $50k savings bond and 2nd-10th get $1,000.
