Young Scientist Challenge

Here’s some news that Ivan passed our way this morning regarding a DEN challenge. If you teach 5th – 8th grade, check it out.

We are excited to announce the Discovery Education Young Scientist Challenge in partnership with 3M. This is a wonderful opportunity for teachers and students to participate, and of course I’d love to see some winners from the best region, the west! đŸ™‚ Feel free to pass this information on to any of your districts, schools, teachers, etc. who might be interested!
Students in grades 5-8 can create their own 60-120 second videos using digital cameras, cell phones, and/or webcams. Semi-finalist student winners get a $250…. Finalists win an all expense trip to Washington DC for the finalist and a PARENT (do you have your own child in grades 5-8?) among other items… the 1st place winner receives $50k savings bond and 2nd-10th get $1,000. We got word today from Barb the One Place guru that…

the Mondo transparencies that were made into Promethean flipcharts for grades 3-5 (thanks to Jay) are now available and the Oral Language Pictures for K-3 are also available in One Place by clicking on the link called  Instructional Resources.

You can access the resources by logging in to One Place and clicking on “Instructional Resources.”
