How can I get my thumbdrive or other peripherals to show up on my computer?
Disk Management:
Sometimes when you add a peripheral to the computer it doesn’t automatically show up. The directions below demonstrate how to solve this problem.
Disk management: This is a demonstration on making the computer read your thumbdrive or other peripheral if it isn’t already.
-
Plug in the Thumbdrive to a USB port
-
Right-click on “My Computer”
-
Double-Click on “Manage”
-
Double-Click on “Manage Disk Management”
-
You should see a list of items. Select the one that has the same capacity of the thumbdrive. For example if you have a 512 MB thumbdrive look for 512 MB.
-
Right-Click on it and choose “Change Drive Letter and Paths
-
A window appears that allows you to choose an alphabet for the thumbdrive. Choose “B.” And then Ok or close or something.
-
A window of options should appear. You can double click on the folder icon.
-
If no window opens then double click on “My Computer” and see if Drive B is now available.
-
In the future it should automatically read the thumbdrive as Drive B.
